Of Pots, Pans and 24K Gold

Hello everyone.. long time no see. What can I say I have been busy. If you were to in turn ask me busy doing what exactly, I am not sure I could turn up with a semi- decent answer . On the other hand though adulting as they call it is not “all bad”, it comes with its  perks and freedoms, be your own boss do whatever you want, go wherever you want, more importantly buy whatever you want. As a person, you could classify me as a spender. A spender of money on all things I need and some I don’t, but must have.

Although recently as it turns out my big splurges are not clothes, make up, accessories or other things one would associate with a young women in her prime-ish. No, things I like to purchase these days are pots, pans, fancy cleaning brooms, storage containers, basically you get the idea. Just for your information though, I neither cook nor clean in my house, because living in an underdeveloped nation I have house helps for both cooking and cleaning but that does not seem to be a deterrent, in my resolve to shop.

So just to summarize, I surf the internet in my free time for pots, pans, kadhais, no discrimination, let them sit in my cart for a few days while I try and justify the expense and are they expensive!! Who knew that there were brands and classes for such mundane items in the kitchen but turns out I could not be more wrong, essays can be written and lets not even go to the fancier stuff like glasses, mugs, pasta bowls or plates with 24K gold in them, yes I kid you not plates have gold plating on them these days.

Once I have told myself that yes, its time to move things from my cart to my credit card, thus begins the arrival of packages one after the other, leaving my husband irate and me over the moon. All things point to the fact that I have truly been domesticated in my life, and know for a fact I was not always like this, my hostel room could be classified as kill zone with the horrors it housed. When we started living on our own for the first time like as family, I would not have been able to tell you the difference between a sauce pan and a frying pan let alone owning either. From the bare skeleton, to needing multiples to owning honeycomb textured triply utensils has been a journey I did not know I needed to take in my life.

Who knows maybe one day my lovely kitchen, with all its beautiful accessories might inspire me to actually cook something other than an egg on Sundays. Maybe, my future is that of a domestic goddess who could perhaps write emails whilst making crisp paranthas in her handpicked pots and pans. I can barely finish writing this, the thought is so far out and hilarious, but as they say never say never.
